Portugal Secures Quarter-Final Spot with 2-1 Victory Over Norway
Portugal advanced to the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals, maintaining a perfect record under coach Jorge Jesus by defeating Norway 2-1. The team came from behind after Kristoffer Ajer scored for Norway in the 36th minute. João Cancelo equalized shortly after with a powerful strike.
The match seemed headed for a draw, a result sufficient for Portugal's qualification given Denmark's win over Wales. However, Gonçalo Ramos secured the win in the 79th minute, scoring his third goal in as many matches. His goal followed strong build-up play from Vitinha and João Félix.
The final minutes saw further drama. Both teams had penalty appeals denied. A Norway substitute was sent off for protesting, and later, Portugal's Francisco Conceição received two yellow cards for dissent after being denied a penalty.
Norway, who have now lost three consecutive games, must improve their performance in the next international break to join Portugal in the final eight.
