De Rossi satisfied with Genoa's Coppa Italia win, looks ahead to Inter match
Genoa's coach, Daniele De Rossi, expressed his satisfaction following a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Sudtirol at Marassi. This win secured Genoa a place in the Coppa Italia round of 16, where they will face the Italian champions and trophy holders, Inter, at San Siro.
"The players who hadn't featured much showed a good attitude, and I'm pleased with their performance," De Rossi stated to 'Italia 1' after the match. "Their approach was correct, even though some players' fitness is still a work in progress, which is why we fielded them. We're happy with the win because we don't want to disregard this competition. We've earned a special evening at San Siro."
In the round of 16, Genoa will face Chivu's Inter. De Rossi praised Chivu's coaching achievements, recalling his successful Primavera Scudetto win against his father's Roma team. De Rossi noted that Chivu has had a significant impact, doing well at Parma and achieving important results upon his return to Inter. He acknowledged that many might have underestimated Chivu's accomplishment of winning both the league and Coppa Italia in his debut season with a top club.
